Details

This medium is made using a synthetic oil itself made from drying oils we call alkyd resin. The main reason to use this material is that it interacts very well with driers to create paintings and mediums that dry quickly.
Our alkyd medium can be diluted with 1/3 of its volume of solvent when painting the initial layer of an oil painting: Izosol or turpentine can be used. Reduce the amount of solvent as you'll paint the following layers to respect the principle of fat over lean. The consistency of this medium is very fluid, therefore you should be careful not to liquefy the paint to much and create wrinkles upon drying. Another variation, the alkyd gel medium, provides a thicker, rather gelatinous consistency.

This medium will yield finishes from gloss to satin and help to maintain the brilliance of your colors as it is manufactured with a higher grade alkyd resin that yellows little over time.
